Here, Today is a photographic essay that takes an intimate look at the lives of older LGBTQ community living in Cumbria, Northern England. The work explorers themes of age, gender and sexuality within a rural English region.
The work reflects the experiences of people living in a largely rural region during decades of immense change in attitudes and lifestyle. It explorers the role of LGBTQ identities in the subjects' everyday lives as ordinary members of families and communities.
The work was created in conjunction with the CELEBRATE:LGBT History in Cumbria Project. CELEBRATE was the first social history research project to explore and uncover the living history of the LGBTQ community in Cumbria.
